EMR Integrations
Desktop App
Guide
Install and use the Scribeberry Desktop App for voice-to-text dictation directly into any EMR or application on Windows and Mac.
Why Use the Desktop App?
Works anywhere: Epic, Cerner, Athena, eClinicalWorks—any EMR or application with text input. Offline transcription—all speech-to-text happens locally on your device with no cloud required. Keyboard shortcut control: Option+Space (Mac) or Ctrl+Space (Windows) to start/stop recording instantly. Capture both mic and system audio for telehealth calls. Offline AI mode on Apple Silicon Macs for maximum privacy.
Installation
Mac: Download the .dmg file, drag to Applications, right-click → Open for first launch, then grant Accessibility, Microphone, and Screen Recording permissions. Windows: Download the .msi file, right-click → Run as Administrator, follow the wizard, and grant microphone permission when prompted.
First-Time Setup
Sign in with your Scribeberry account. Download the “SB Lightning” model (recommended). Learn the shortcut: Option+Space (Mac) or Ctrl+Space (Windows). Test by opening any text field, pressing the shortcut, speaking, then pressing the shortcut again.
Recording Modes
AI Scribe Mode (default): converts speech into formatted clinical notes (SOAP, Progress Note, etc.)—best for patient visits. Dictation Mode: types exactly what you say, word-for-word—best for quick notes or verbatim transcription. Switch modes via Settings → Recording Mode.
Troubleshooting
Shortcut not working: Mac → System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility → Enable Scribeberry → restart app. Windows → Run as Administrator once to register shortcut. No audio: check microphone permission in system settings and verify the correct mic is selected. Notes not pasting: ensure cursor is in a text field and check Accessibility permission (Mac) or run as Admin (Windows).
