Fix common Scribeberry issues: microphone not working, browser permissions, virtual visit audio, and more.

60-Second Fix for Microphone Issues

Click the lock icon to the left of the URL → set Microphone to Allow → Reload. In Scribeberry, open the device dropdown above the red record button and pick your actual mic (not a virtual device). If it still fails, reset site permissions and ensure your OS privacy settings allow the browser to use the mic.

Quick Decision Tree

Browser never asks for mic: permission was previously denied—click lock icon → Microphone → Allow, then reload. Works in Scribeberry but not for Zoom/Teams/Meet: ensure Share Sound is enabled when sharing a tab/window and use the web version. Mic listed but no waveform or transcript: wrong input selected (e.g., ZoomAudioDevice)—choose Built-in or your USB/headset mic.

Mic very quiet or cuts out: input level low, physical mute engaged, or noise-suppression app active—unmute hardware, raise input level, temporarily quit audio utilities. Suddenly stopped mid-visit: browser lost permission or app slept—reload the tab and restart recording.

Browser-Specific Fixes

Chrome & Edge: click the lock icon → set Microphone → Allow. Open chrome://settings/content/microphone, pick the correct default input, and remove Scribeberry from the Blocked list if present. Safari (macOS): Safari → Settings for This Website → Microphone → Allow. Also check System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone to ensure Safari is enabled. Firefox: click the permission icon in the URL bar → Allow Microphone. Open Settings → Privacy & Security → Permissions → Microphone and remove any blocked entry.

Summary

90%+ of “mic not working” issues are browser permission or wrong input. Allow the mic in the URL lock menu, reset permissions if needed, reload, then pick the correct device in Scribeberry. If issues persist, contact support via the “Need Help?” button in the app or email hello@scribeberry.com.
