AI agents for healthcare, built for Canadian clinics
AI agents for healthcare are software that carries out clinical admin instead of only writing the note: preparing charts, completing forms, sending referrals, collecting patient intake and tracking follow-ups, with a clinician approving each step. Scribeberry, the Canadian AI medical scribe used by 30,000+ providers, runs two kinds. Berry is the agent inside the chart conversation, on the web, iPhone and Android. Intake agents work with patients before the visit by phone, text or web chat.
What Scribeberry’s agents do
- Pre-chart the day. Berry pulls tomorrow’s schedule from Accuro, a photo or PDF of the day sheet, or pasted text, then creates a draft scribe for each visit with the chart data you choose.
- Fill Canadian forms from the visit. Berry fills PDF forms from the encounter and chart context for review: the CRA T2201, CPP Disability (ISP-2519), WSIB Form 8 and Functional Abilities Form, AISH, ICBC CL19 and more than 80 other form guides.
- Send referrals by fax. Berry drafts the letter from the encounter, finds the specialist in the directory and faxes it once you confirm, then tracks the submission in the same conversation.
- Collect intake before the visit. Intake agents phone, text or web-chat with patients to take a history and complete forms, and can call automatically from the EMR calendar. Walk-in patients can start from a QR link. Berry can also send a secure intake link by text or email.
- Keep follow-ups. Berry turns “check her labs in two weeks” into a task with a due date, linked to the visit.
- Look up codes. Fee-code lookup for Ontario, British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, plus ICD-10 and ICD-11.
- Work in the chart. With Accuro connected, Berry reads the schedule, medications, allergies, history and lab results, and sends the finished note back to the chart.
Nothing leaves the clinic without a clinician
Faxes, texts, emails and saved tasks each go through a review card showing the exact recipient and content, and nothing happens until you approve it. Intake agents return a draft summary or completed form to your scribe list for review before it becomes part of the record.

Setting the record straight
Some comparison tables published by other vendors describe Scribeberry as web-first, with limited public detail on EMR integration and billing limited to disability forms. For the record: Scribeberry ships iOS, Android, Mac, Windows and Chrome extension apps; it has fee-code lookup for five provinces; and its EMR integrations are detailed below and on scribeberry.com/product/integrations.
For agents built outside Canada, including Heidi II, Nabla, Hippocratic AI and Notable, see our clinician’s comparison on the Scribeberry blog.
EMR integration, in detail
From Scribeberry’s integration guides and changelog. Availability can depend on EMR version and clinic setup.
| EMR | How it connects | What Scribeberry reads | What it writes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Accuro (QHR) | Official Accuro REST API with OAuth, through the Accuro Marketplace | Schedule, patients, medications, allergies, problems, vitals; Berry also reads history and lab results | The finished note to the chart; filled PDFs such as CRA DTC and AISH saved back to the chart |
| TELUS PS Suite | Launch Scribeberry from the PS Suite chart (connect once per workstation) | Opt-in chart context | The note, written back to the chart |
| OSCAR Pro | Chrome extension (beta) | Allergies, medications, vitals and past encounters (Smart Pull) | Note sections into chart fields (Smart Push) |
| Jane | Chrome extension | Treatments, ICD-10 codes, invoices and chart entries (Smart Pull) | One-click Smart Push into Jane fields |
| Juno, Plexia and other web EMRs | Chrome extension | Patient context from the open chart (Smart Pull) | The note into the chart (Smart Push) |
| Any desktop EMR (including Epic and Cerner workstations) | Scribeberry desktop app for Mac and Windows | Not applicable | Dictated text into any text field |
MYLE, CHR, Healthquest and TELUS Med Access are also listed on the integrations page, where setup depends on the clinic’s configuration. Berry’s chart actions (reading the schedule and chart, and sending the note back) currently use the Accuro integration.

How to evaluate an AI agent for your clinic
- Watch it act, not just write. Ask the vendor to send a real referral fax or intake link in the demo, and look at the approval step.
- Check write-back to your EMR. “Integrates with” can mean an API, a browser extension or copy and paste. Ask what it reads and what it writes.
- Bring your own forms. Try the forms you fill every week, like the T2201, WSIB and your insurers’ disability forms.
- Ask where patient-facing agents talk to patients: phone, text, web or QR, and who reviews the result.
- Confirm procurement. In Ontario, check the Supply Ontario AI Scribe VOR list and Infoway eligibility.
- Read the privacy documentation your privacy officer needs, and confirm where data is stored and processed.

Frequently asked questions
What are AI agents for healthcare?
AI agents for healthcare are software that completes clinical admin tasks rather than only answering questions or drafting notes. Examples include preparing charts before clinic, filling disability and insurance forms, faxing referrals, collecting patient intake and adding follow-up tasks. In Scribeberry, the clinician approves each action before it is sent or saved.
What is Berry?
Berry is Scribeberry’s AI agent for clinical work, launched in September 2026. It works inside the chart conversation on the web, iPhone and Android. It pre-charts the day, fills forms, drafts and faxes referrals, sends intake links, adds tasks and looks up billing codes, and with Accuro it reads the chart and sends the note back.
Does Scribeberry have agents that talk to patients?
Yes. Scribeberry’s intake agents phone, text or web-chat with patients to take a history and complete forms before the visit. Clinics build them as History Taker, Form Filler or Front-Office Staff agents, and can schedule calls from the EMR calendar or share a QR link. Results arrive in the scribe list for clinician review.
Which EMRs does Scribeberry integrate with?
Accuro through the official Accuro REST API, TELUS PS Suite with write-back from the chart, and OSCAR Pro, Jane, Juno, Plexia and other web EMRs through the Chrome extension’s Smart Pull and Smart Push. MYLE, CHR, Healthquest and Med Access are also listed, and the desktop app dictates into any desktop EMR. Berry’s chart actions currently use Accuro.
Is Scribeberry an approved AI scribe vendor in Ontario?
Yes. Scribeberry Ltd. is a qualified vendor on Supply Ontario’s AI Scribe Vendor of Record arrangement (Tender-20123), which runs from April 27, 2025 to April 27, 2028. Scribeberry is also pre-qualified for Canada Health Infoway’s AI Scribe Program.
How does Scribeberry compare with Tali AI and Empathia?
All three are Canadian-market clinical AI platforms on Supply Ontario’s AI Scribe VOR list. Scribeberry’s distinguishing pieces are Berry, a clinical agent that acts from the chart with explicit approvals, patient-facing voice and chat intake agents, fax referrals, fee-code lookup for five provinces and more than 80 Canadian form guides.
